The exhibition “Marine Biodiversity on the French Riviera” showcases three years of work by scientists, academics, organizations, and ocean enthusiasts, which culminated in the creation of an atlas. Môle des Pêcheurs.
This mapping provides a better understanding of the mosaic of habitats rich in nursery areas, reveals the importance of Posidonia seagrass beds, and highlights the great fragility of these ecosystems (the disappearance of the giant pearl oyster, the increase in the grouper population, damage from ghost nets and excessive summer activity, etc.). A call for citizen participation and citizen science made it possible to collect all this data.
Understanding the Mediterranean to better protect it is everyone’s responsibility!
