Tennis-Club
One of the oldest on the Côte d’Azur
The Beaulieu Lawn Tennis Club was founded by Sir Blundell Maple in 1899 on land he owned adjacent to the Hotel Bristol, a stone’s throw from the beaches. In 1921, the Beaulieu Lawn Tennis Club played host to the great Suzanne Lenglen in a match against the Australian Miss Ryan.
Immediately after the First World War, the Bristol management organised ‘International Tennis Tournaments’, which became extremely popular. The most prestigious players competed in unforgettable matches on an exceptional clay court.
During the winters of 1947-48, the daily presence of King Gustav V of Sweden added a further touch to the already great prestige of this remarkable complex.
Now open all year round, the 8 superb clay courts, 6 of which are floodlit, host major competitions every year, including the ITF Junior Grade 1 Tournament in April and the ITF Seniors Tournament in March.
The Beaulieu Tennis Club has a very pleasant Club House.
A restaurant, the Sun-club, welcomes you every day in its two large rooms or on its lovely shaded terrace.
